Working with the Smithsonian Institution

Mid-American Rare Coin Galleries has developed a close working relationship with the Smithsonian Institution through Jeff Garrett, the company’s founder and president. Over the last decade, Jeff has been active in various Smithsonian Institution projects developed to advance numismatics. For example, Jeff recently organized a fundraising effort that raised $1.5 million to underwrite future Smithsonian Institution coin exhibits. In addition, Jeff has spent thousands of hours researching, inventorying and grading the U.S. collection. This massive project had never been done in such detail. The information from this effort will soon be available on the Smithsonian Institution’s website and in future numismatic publications.Details regarding U.S. gold coins are already available in the popular, award-winning book, Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins 1795–1933, co-authored by Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth.
